Today's challenge - "Share about your special furry family member."
Her favorite place to rest |
College Girl {way before she was College Girl} wanted a puppy. {Isn't that where these stories always start???} So we went to the pound. And we looked for a little tiny lap dog. They didn't have anything, but there were some puppies that weren't weaned yet, so we could come back in a couple weeks. We walked out the door, and there was a guy walking this dog {for the pound - like a volunteer}. He asked my daughter if she wanted to walk the dog. And College Girl said yes. And while she's walking the doggie, the guy says, what would you name her if you took her home? Oh, yeah, we were sunk. {We later found out he was an insurance salesman. Not that there's anything wrong with that...but it just let's you know!}
So we took this sorta big dog home. And then my hose got chewed up, and my sprinkler, my shoe, my glove, and my..... and so on and so on and so on.
And she got out of the yard. We'd get calls. One time, we had like 8 calls on our answering machine - and we could tell where all Blondie had been. One time someone found her and took her to our vet's. One time a friend called my husband at work. I found her twice in our neighborhood.
The good news about Blondie is she is the sweetest dog in the world. She is so mild mannered. She wants to love on everybody. She loves the little stray cats that hang out under our shed, and waits patiently with hope that they will come out and play {they never do}. She anxiously greets College Girl's boyfriend, and is forever hopeful that she can go with them {hasn't ever happened!}. She loves to help answer the door, and hopes that whoever is there is just a new friend she hasn't met yet.
So I guess now I can say, she's a keeper!
Blondie looks like a great friend and a big one at that!

Haha, yes she's big, but we're convinced she think she a lap dog.

Such a great story! We rescued a pup, who we also go through those terrible times with, I just always remind myself of how great he is with my daughter. One day, as he gets older, I know he will calm down. I always keep telling myself, maybe next year will be the year he relaxes. ha ha

She looks very sweet! We also have a rescue dog after much pleading from my daughter! I wanted her to have a dog because I have such wonderful memories of the time I spent with my dog.

Pets are wonderful - Blondie was supposed to be my daughter's dog, but she's really a family pet.
DeleteSo cute! I love the pic of her sleeping on the chair. :)
ReplyDeleteI have to confess that last year at Christmas, we got new living room furniture, but we kept this chair for Blondie! It almost seems ridiculous!! Lol
